357 Lover at Big Sky Works

This past Saturday night the place to be was Big Sky Works in Williamsburg.  357 Lover took the stage with B.A. Miale’s video stylings behind them and aerial stars flying above them.  Magical and beautiful.  The girls flew through the air while Corn Mo and the 357 Lover gang serenaded them with songs written just for them.  The Great Dubini and Chris Rozzi provided great comic interludes between the sets.  I was especially excited to see Jean Loscalzo fly through the air to “Hang on Jean” which was written for her and her amazing endurance for the curve balls life can throw.  She hung on and soared and all eyes were captivated on her twists and flips.  Big Sky Works is an incredible space full of incredible people who make incredible things happen.  I highly recommend checking out any shows that happen there and if you are brave check out their trapeze classes..wanna learn to fly?  Big Sky Works is your opportunity..or you can be like me and come for the shows and gasp and delight in the wonderful way these women soar.

and weird…  all the photos i wanted to put in the blog aren’t showing up?  don’t know why.

Pshaw to silly blog not posting the rest of the ladies..  here is a LINK TO THE REST OF THE PICS  ðŸ™‚

Von Shakes at Arlene’s Grocery 8/26/11

Von Shakes. Hell yeah.
Rock & Roll with a bit of a punk edge and a lot of furious guitar and hard pelting drums. Me like!  Energy! Energy! Energy!! The Irish foursome brought that to the stage of Arlene’s Grocery in droves at their show last night along with their gloriously impassioned sound. Great vocals, catchy lyrics – I am looking forward to their return to the states in January.

Shitkill at Stratosphere Sound

a dodgy bass amp and some cable issues were no match for the desire to lay Shitkills 2nd album down. Damien, Max, Josh & Danny came to deliver and they did. Song after song with Tomato proudly looking and listening on, guiding them, giving subtle nuance changes, where to really punch something or where to just let a note linger. and the guys did deliver, above and beyond what they expected. My favorite moment of the day was hearing that ahhaaa moment of awe “i didn’t know I could play like that, I didn’t fucking know I could play that fast!” and you will all be blown away, which is why you should go ahead and make plans to be at the Highline Ballroom on Nov 7th for their album release show with Anvil (yes – Metal on Metal Anvil)
Shitkill is some killin’ shit!
