Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe with members of Slightly Stoopid did more than a Beastie Boys tribute show with their performance at The Best Buy Theatre in NYC this past Saturday night – they paid homage, showed mad respect and brought the house down with their collaborative praise of all things Beastie. The crowd went wild. People were screaming and clapping and begging for more. I found myself doing the same and had to really force myself to stay still to make a few images.

Williams (Richmond, VA in the HOUSE), that got the crowd moving and grooving and then Slightly Stoopid members Dela, Kyle & OG joined the party with renditions of all the Beastie faves. Highlights for me were Paul Revere, Brass Monkey, Sabotage, Root Down, Intergalactic, and I could go on and on. The crowd (myself included) went bonkers for No Sleep Till Brooklyn. Much to the crowd’s delight Nigel Hall came out to jam on the keys for a few songs. If you haven’t seen KD before, get to a show. The music makes you want to dance, want to move, want to groove. No show is complete without an Arancini Bro’s Rice Ball!
